Nancy De Siervo

Founder/CEO

Nancy L. De Siervo is an ambitious visionary. She began her esteemed career in the Wellness Arts some time ago. Passionate and vocal about people with disabilities, Nancy made the selfless decision to allocate her time to the blind and visually impaired.  Imbued with the benevolent essence of true altruism, she began the nonprofit organization…. Ability Beyond Sight.  Encouraging, Employing and Empowering adults who are blind became paramount to achieving the goal of life-changing career opportunities in the field of Massage Therapy, thereby, leading people with disabilities to economic self-sufficiency, inclusion and independence.

This fervent devotion to reaffirming the disadvantage with hope and courage stems from the personal experience of a family member.  Nancy witnessed firsthand the societal omission of certain individuals with disabilities.  The effects of such discriminatory practices, that create visible and troublesome inequities in the lives of those who are just as entitled to opportunity and success, persuaded Nancy to leave the corporate world and further her humanitarian efforts.

A competent and skilled management professional for over fifteen years in Communications, Net-Working, and Analytical Problem Solving, accompanied by establishing herself as a Licensed Esthetician with numerous Spa Certifications and a graduate of Bergen Community College, Nancy De Siervo is an inimitable force of enthusiasm and fortitude. The amalgamation of all these attributes help to solidify her unyielding pursuit to construct the most splendid environment for the blind and visually impaired.

All who pursue a career in the Wellness Arts, will witness the uncontested devotion to the progress of these individuals. The experience in the Therapeutic and Creative Arts will not only allow a skill to be brought forth, but instill, promote and nurture healthy minds and physical, emotional and spiritual wellness. That is why in 2012, Nancy De Siervo left the corporate environment to pursue a lifelong dream of advocacy and career advancement in the field of Massage Therapy for blind and visually impaired individuals.

Allen Lightner

Social Media Marketing

A graduate of Georgia State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, I have spent the last 20 years performing duties in various Customer Service positions. The operative word being service.  I have in many aspects of my life, personal and professional, provided assistance, advising, comforting and guiding people in the direction of their dreams. Sometimes in the most simplistic, seemingly inconsequential manner, influencing others with as much positive energy as I can muster.  That is why Ability Beyond Sight has been ideal in my journey towards a greater awareness and understanding of the blind and the visually impaired, allowing me to contribute to the Social Media Marketing aspect of ABS. As a volunteer for Ability Beyond Sight, the concept of individuals with disabilities is no foreign concept.  Though all my senses are functional, and the world remains a visual treasure, my life has its physical constraints. Through my own experience, I recognize the desire for normalcy in one’s life, the quest for what would be deemed natural for some and laborious for others.

Despite the fact that my condition can be debilitating emotionally and physically, I grant myself the courage to acquiesce to the humanitarian efforts of Ability Beyond Sight. I dedicate a portion of my time to aiding Nancy De Siervo, the founder of ABS, in forging a path to economic and financial independence for the blind and visually impaired.
